support wall

Upon moving into our new home one of the biggest projects was to tear down a wall between the living room and dining room to open the house up. Of course this wall had to be one of the main support wall but we decided to do it anyway. So Chad, Kurt and I tore it down. Once the drywall was removed we found a main furnace line, drain pipe, cold air return vent, 2 heating ducts and water pipes. I almost fell to my knees and cried as i knew this was going to become a nightmare. So we called plumbers and after about 12 hours of plumbing work and a whole new plan for the support beam we were ready for the next step. Here are some pics of our main support beam going in. It looks a lot better around here except for the hanging wires, exposed pipes and lots of lumber that still needs to be torn down. Oh yeah and the big holes in our floors..Well I guess after a large check to the plumber we will figure out the next step. As for now we are in a construction zone..

Looks like fun! Who's the skinny guy on the end of the beam?
