I seem to blog a lot about both of my girls and sometimes mention little things about Kurt and I . Well I decided maybe some of you would appreciate an update on the parents of the beautiful children in all of the pictures.
Kurt and I decided that we really wanted to focus on and strengthen our marriage, working with God to create a marriage built upon him and attain the love that he designed us to have together. As all of you know marriage is not an easy task and to truly be successful we need to create a marriage centered around God. So to begin this life long journey we started a study with the book Love & Respect. This is a book and a workbook to try to navigate some pitfalls and learn what the bible says about Love & Respect. (based on Ephesians 5:33) While we have much work to do this study has proven to be very interesting and enlightening.
Kurt has been working hard on making Pier 1 imports the best store in Traverse City and I think he is doing an amazing job! His company is thriving and the stock price increasing every year. Kurt also has been starting to read a lot more and enjoying some Glenn Beck books and some great history books on the Bill of Rights. Kurt is a huge supporter of Hillsdale college and is as excited as a school boy when the new Imprimus comes in the mail. (I must say I find a man that reads very attractive!). Kurt is a huge supporter of the constitution and loves politics. He enjoys Fox news and is super excited today as he will be able to meet some of the Republican candidates. But Kurt also loves playing with his girls. After dinner the girls know it is wrestling time and will climb all over their dad and attack him. (especially Ashlynn) But every night before bed he also climbs into bed with Cahill and reads her three books and snuggles. She treasures this time with him and when he has to close the store she is so sad that I am the one to do the nightime routine.
The past few months I have been dedicating a tremendous amount of time researching homeschool curriculums. I have been reading some great books on teaching children and reading about education based on Charlotte Masons ideas. I have spent time in prayer asking for direction and support and mentoring. And as always God showed up! The Anspaughs have been a great asset in this crusade. They have spent time guiding me and mentoring me and sending me in some incredible directions. Currently Cahill and I have been working in the FIAR curriclum and plan to approach education in a very unorthodox way through simply the medium of literature. A wise woman explained it to me this way simply in a question. How did God choose to teach us? Through literature! He did not have written tests and questions at the end of a chapter. okay anyway I could go on forever in a great detail all of the wonderful things I have learned but I think I have found my direction for a couple of years of education and I am excited and scared for this new endeavor! So besides researching I have discovered a love for fabric! It is dangerous to take me into a fabric store as I have a hard time leaving. Mom, grams and I have been making the girls pants and skirts and apron shirts and hairthings. Thank goodness we have found an outlet for all of this fabric! :) But really it has been fun just spending the time with them and my kids have been loving the extra love and attention also.
So I hope I have not bored u with all of this info and if I did u have probably already stopped reading so no worries. The Stimpson are so excited for this summer! We r planning to spend a tremendous amount of time outside and maybe on a beach. Next week, Kurt and I head down to Grand Rapids for an overnight date adventure without the kids!
Love u all
Jessica
